You can make a Legal Protection Insurance claim by calling Irwin Mitchell on:

0870 150 0100 or,

by writing to:

Irwin Mitchell, St. Peter's House, Hartstead, Sheffield S1 2EL.

Before calling either number, it may be useful to run through the background to your claim:

Check your cover – the person you are claiming for must have been covered by the plan at the time of the accident for a personal accident plan, diagnosis for a critical illness or time of death under life insurance. As PAX insurance premiums are deducted from your pay, you should find the words “pax insurance” under the voluntary deductions column along with a deduction that should correspond to the level of cover you selected. If the policy is so new as not to have appeared on your pay statement then either the blue copy of the enrolment form returned to you after you joined the plan or the copy held on your pay records, will suffice as proof of membership.

Consider your claim – a claim under the personal accident section requires an accident often defined as a “sudden and unexpected event” such as a fall, trip, vehicle collision or terrorist attack. the types of conditions covered are all laid out in the Terms and Conditions and it may prove useful to read through these at this point. For personal accident claims you may wish to pay particular attention to the definition for permanent disability. Note that “loss” means a loss of use and is not restricted to physical severance such as an amputation. In the event of an accidental death claim probate will be required but VALO Ltd may be able to assist you through our discounted legal services package for PAX members.

Once the call centre has established your membership and the background to the claim, they will post out a claim form for completion. If you have any questions on how to complete it then please call again. Note that your local PAX representative may well be holding a claims clinic in your area so you can also speak to them.
